trade show

I have just done a trade show in NYC.  It was held at the most unique place I have ever been.
It was the former Ansche Chesed Synagogue (1849) now called Angel Orensanz Foundation.

The atmosphere was very New York; old beauty meets new designs from selected world-wide designers.
And there was a cat living in this old Synagogue.  Just watching a cat relaxing on the floor comforts me.

something about us

My Valentine's day song, Daft Punk's "something about us".
I have set this song on repeat since Feb 14th.

This song is not only romantic, but it sounds sad in the end like a French movie.

Really cool animation was done by Reiji Matsumoto.  Nice collaboration between two great artists.
(14 music videos make one long story, I can't wait to watch all after my show is over!)

hello, in japanese

Yayoi Forest

new collection for a new season

When someone asks me "what do you do?" I say "I make jewelry and sell to stores"  "how?" "I have some tradeshows and meet buyers from the world."

It's that simple.
Every time I have a new collection, I exhibit at a tradeshow.
Buyers from retail stores place orders with me, and I send those orders 4-6 weeks after a show.

Now I am in between two shows, and I am going to rearrange some of my jewelry before the next one.
That means more photo shooting!
I am working against time now.

When I was in school (FIT), an invited guest speaker who was an owner of a store in NY told us that you needed a story throughout your line.

I think that was the best advise that I have received, and sometimes it's the hardest thing to do.

Just keep reminding myself enjoy the moment of creation.

P.S.  Can't believe Alexander MaQueen took his own life.  What a sad loss.
May his soul rest in peace with his mother.

life

My week started with shocking news that a person I've known had a brain stroke and was in apoplectic coma.

When you see someone who is warm hearted, it makes you feel you want to be a better person.
He is the person to inspire other people in that way.

My heart bleeds when thinking how his family and his loved one are going through.

It touched me strongly, and it gradually hit me more and more at night and it made me cry.

To live and to have each day is such a miracle.

I pray for both him and the couple for the best of the best.
