true stories of paul auster

I started reading Paul Auster's "True Stories."
I bought this book in Kyoto few days after my father's funeral.
They are the true stories that he has experienced or has heard from someone, and they are sad and sometimes odd.

When I was living in Tokyo, I did not know what my neighbors did for living and how many family members they had, but I was relieved when I heard some noise from neighbors in the same building.
Sometimes I was afraid of a dark night and I tried to listen to a sound to make sure there was someone next to my room. Living in Brooklyn, I still do it at my apartment to feel safe.

That's the feeling I have when I am reading this book. It's about the noise of the city. And I somehow feel safe when I know that all people go through their life stages and they all have their own stories that they keep in their heart.
It will be nice to listen to your true stories with some wine and cheese.

The pictures is from "heavy metal" magazine, I was caught by bold coloring.
